Life with Liam

I love the way he sighs after drinking a few sips of water.
I love the feeling of his head on my shoulder when he’s tired.
I love his serious gaze out the window in the morning when we greet the sun and the birds together.
I adore his smile.

I hate to worry about him when he’s sick.
I’m jealous of his carelessness.
I’m excited when I get to pick him up from daycare.
I’m relieved to take him there after a few days at home.
I feel guilty when I’m happy without him.

I love his smell in his p-j’s after an evening bath.
I love reading him a book.
The way he talks to himself makes me smile,
I’m happy to watch him sleep.

I’m bored when he doesn’t want to play alone all day.
I feel sad whenever he feels sad.
I’m frustrated when he doesn’t want to eat or sleep,
I’m scared when I don’t hear him when I wake up.

He’s the most interesting person I have ever known,
And I love his wit.
I like to stroke his soft blond hair.
I feel lucky to be his mom.

I miss the feeling of being a free agent,
But I miss him whenever he’s not with me.
I’m sad and scared to know I can’t protect him from everything bad.
I hate to realise I won’t ever not worry about him.

He is all of that and more.
He is the greatest lesson I ever learned.
He makes me feel.
He makes me feel alive.

Swimming pool

I am about to embark on an enormous adventure. I am fully aware of the importance of this moment. Are you?
My cousin Noah is teaching me how to act cool in the swimming pool.

This water is serious business and requires my full concentration.

Scanning the crowd...

I'm feeling quite at home here! Does it show?
